You would probably be hard pressed to find a home today that doesn’t own a coffee maker. They are in practically every kitchen. Some are nothing more than stove top percolators and some are full-fledged coffee/espresso/cappuccino makers able to churn out a latte or a cup of coffee.

The coffee maker you decide on for your kitchen should be one that matches your coffee preferences. If all you are concerned with is a good cup of coffee, a simple coffee maker will suffice. However, if you are regularly making a morning trek to the local coffee shop for an espresso, you might want to consider purchasing one for your kitchen.

There are many types of coffee makers to choose from, knowing what each one is will help greatly in making your purchase.

Drip Coffee Maker

The drip coffee maker is the one you see in most kitchens. The coffee is brewed by heating and siphoning water from a reservoir. This water is then deposited slowly into a filter basket filled with coffee grounds. The resulting coffee then drips through the filter into a decanter which sits on a heating element.

Today’s drip coffee makers can be found with a wide variety of options. The decanter is typically 8-12 cups in size and can be glass, ceramic, or even stainless steel. Your coffee maker can have a clock, an automatic timer to start brewing before you wake up, and can even have a built in grinder for the freshest ever. Most also have an auto-off option which turns the heating element off after a certain amount of time.

          ]]>

You can’t get more traditional in your approach to coffee brewing than by using a drip coffee maker. Introduced for home use in the 1970s, these machines work by letting water pass through coffee grounds held in a paper filter or plastic filter. The clear, light-bodied coffee then collects in a brew pot.

Single Cup Coffee Maker

These machines are among some of the newest on the market. Some are available that use regular ground coffee in a smaller filter basket yet only brew one cup at a time, while others use specialized coffee pods to brew individual cups as needed.

These coffee makers are great for people who don’t drink a lot of coffee or families that have only one coffee drinker. Another added benefit is that each person can brew their favorite coffee or flavor.

If you use the pod type brewers you will pay a premium price for the pods, making this coffee maker more expensive than other models.

Percolator

The stove top percolator may look like an antique to many people. For those who have used percolators they know that the coffee has a very different taste from drip coffee makers. This type coffee maker is very slow and alters the natural taste of coffee.

Espresso Machine

The espresso machine is the ultimate in coffee makers. However, unless you purchase a combination espresso-coffee maker you will only be making espresso. Espresso machines are wonderful for making coffee based drinks and are very quick. If you like espresso occasionally and you are a coffee drinker to; you might want to consider a combination coffee-espresso machine.

Your coffee maker is what you want it to be based on your investment. If you are a ritualistic coffee drinker who has to have that morning cup of java to get going, spend a little more money and get a machine that is going to last and that does what you want it to do. If however you only have a coffee maker so that your guests can have coffee or you only occasionally have coffee yourself, there is no need for you to make a large investment.

Coffee has long been a staple for waking up on sleepy mornings and getting through busy afternoons. Coffee houses are places to meet friends, make new acquaintances, plan futures and talk about the past.

It’s no question that coffee is important in our lives. From decaffeinated brews to cap a quiet evening, to rich espressos to finish a meal, to supercharged cappuccinos, there are literally hundreds of coffee choices. Many of the more unique blends require special coffee machines to create the perfect brew. Hand-brewing machines and old-fashioned presses have enjoyed a renewed interest by coffee lovers. Many coffee drinkers are now using pod brewers that infuse hot water through coffee pads, while others prefer the old-fashioned drip machines. Cappuccino and espresso machines are also popular choices.

Drip coffee machines, however, are still the most popular because they are easiest to use. With this method, coffee rookies and aficionados alike can easily brew the perfect pot. The key to success in using drip coffee machines is to choose a permanent filter, such as gold and nylon models. With a permanent filter, the flavor molecules from the coffee grinds can pass freely through to the water. Another important advantage is that permanent filters leave no unwanted flavours. Cleaning a permanent filter after every use is required, but the delicious results are well worth the effort.

The problem with using paper filters in coffee machines is that they leave an unpleasant aftertaste in the coffee. Additionally, paper filters can absorb some of the special flavour molecules and aromatic oils from the coffee beans, essentially losing that rich aroma and tantalizing taste. If you must use paper filters, try rinsing them with hot water first, to wash away some of the aftertaste.

The best coffee brewed in drip coffee machines comes from a medium to fine grind. Measure the coffee carefully according to your coffee bean package or machine manufacturer’s suggestions, and use water that is between 195 degrees and 205 degrees. This range of temperatures ensures the best extraction from your ground coffee…

Expert coffee makers will tell you that one of the tricks to brewing a great cup is to remove the filter and grounds before the last few drops of water have filtered through. In doing so, your java will be less likely to taste bitter or over-extracted. When the coffee has finished brewing, stir the pot before serving.

Coffee lovers agree that morning, noon or as a nightcap, anytime is the best time to enjoy a great brew. Using good quality ground coffee beans in the right coffee machines can help to ensure success in every pot.

  ]]>

If you are looking for a coffee brewer, go stainless. Stainless steel is a very durable metal, it doesn’t corrode and it’s strong. You ask, what makes a good stainless coffee maker? Coffee makers features actually depend on preferences but the following are likely true to most coffee enthusiasts.

Make sure it brews hot and excellent coffee. Of course, this is the primary function of your appliance. The job of coffee makers is to make a perfect brew every time. The coffee beans and the mix will affect the resulting coffee brew but even with average commercial grade beans it should be consistent when creating the brew. That’s hot, well done and rich in taste.

Look for one with an intuitive interface. The less number of buttons the better. Why you may ask. Well, when you make a coffee early in the morning and you are very groggy chances are you are half awake and you can’t be bothered at that moment to figure out how to operate your coffee maker. The lesser number of buttons push before your coffee is brewed the better.

The easier to clean the better. Coffee brewers depending on how often used need to be cleaned regularly if you intend to utilize with it for a long time. There are coffee makers that have removable components that make it easy to clean after a coffee is brewed.

Choose a coffeemaker with durable parts. It’s a given that majority of the component of a stainless coffee maker is made of stainless steel but there are other parts that are definitely made of something else. Usually, plastic. Make sure the plastic parts are heavy duty plastic and not thin and cheap. It should be thick and not brittle.

It should come with a programmable timer. The coffeemaker was built for convenience in the first place to better our mornings. It would be pointless if the coffee maker in question doesn’t have a programmable timer. Convenience perhaps would be the keyword. The more convenient to use the better.

The brewing should be quick and efficient. Nope, making coffee is not a race, but it shouldn’t be a stroll in the park either. Like mentioned previously, this appliance is supposed to make it more convenient for us to make coffee and fast. Fast enough for you not to miss that morning bus, most of us are always in a hurry specially in the morning, the coffee maker should help us hurry not make us wait for it.

Finally, make sure the stainless coffee maker has a variable range of temperatures when brewing your coffee and that it keeps your coffee hot or warm whichever you prefer. Some people just like their coffee hot enough to make a sip right away. Others want it scalding hot specially those that mix their coffee with cream or milk.

The first Starbucks coffeehouse opened in March 1971 in Seattle, Washington. The three founders were an English teacher, a history teacher and a writer. The idea of a coffee shop came from a personal friend of theirs who ran a business selling high-quality coffee beans and equipment. Expansion was almost non-existent under the leadership of the original founders and it took a former employee and rival company to get them to where they are today.

There’s truth to the mantra: “you are what you believe you are.” Be it in losing weight or achieving a long term goal, the mechanics remain basically the same. You need to have the correct mindset to achieve what you aspire.

Black & Decker’sDCM18S Brew and Go special Coffeemaker brews coffee directly into the accompanying 15-ounce stainless steel dishwasher-safe travel mug that is tapered to fit most vehicle cup holders. Not only does it come with a 1-year warranty, it also has a reusable filter system and has an auto power off knob.

Coffee Pod Units To Ponder About

If you ever see something that looks like and overgrown tea bag, what you are actually looking at is a coffee pod. If you want the expensive stuff then you will in all probability have to get the systems that include coffee baskets. These baskets can fit all three sizes of the coffee pods. Although you can make your own individual pod, it is time consuming and a hit-or-miss proposition; it is best to check if your favorite coffee is available in pods before buying one.The Melitta MES2R One is an one-cup product that uses the pod system. It brews one cup at a time directly into either a 5-ounce or 8-ounce a mug and has a 28-ounce metered water tank that allows you to make 5 consecutive servings without refilling. The system’s 2.2 bar steam pump will always give you rich, full-bodied fresh coffee.

Single-Cup Coffee Brewing Systems

This coffee unit is distinctive because it uses a mini-brewer within the machine. All you have to do is put in the pre-packed pre-measured coffee cups or discs into the maker, press the button and wait until your coffee is ready. The coffee and filter are both contained within the disc. When the machine has finished brewing, you simply remove the spent brewer and throw it in the trash. The nice characteristic of this system is the coffee does not touch any part of the machine, allowing you to brew various cups of coffee in various flavors and roasts.

Again, the main consideration in getting this type of single serve coffee maker is whether the coffee you prefer is available from the manufacturer.
One of the highly recommended single serve product is Keurigs Single Serve Gourmet Coffee and Tea Brewing System. The programmable unit offers one-touch brewing, features a 24-hour digital clock and comes with a removable drip tray. It comes with a pack of 72 K-Cups variety pack and one My K-Cup reusable filter.

The cost of coffee is the most important consideration when choosing single serve makers; you pay more for coffee when you buy capsules, cups, pods or discs for single serve coffee machines because you generally have to order your brand of coffee through the machine manufacturer.

Coffee makers have come a long way. Since old time cowboy pots brewing coffee over the fire to today’s glossy gourmet brewers, there is a coffee brewer to suit every taste, every lifestyle, every budget and every counter space. So where do you start finding the coffee maker of your dreams?

Before you proceed towards the appliance section at your favorite outlet, do a little groundwork. Consider what kind of coffee you prefer, how frequently you drink coffee, just how much space you’ve got for a coffee maker, just how much you are able to afford to spend on a coffee machine. These are the problems involved in deciding whether or not to acquire an espresso or a non-espresso coffee maker.

Selecting a Coffee Maker: Espresso vs Non Espresso

Espresso coffee brewers are fancy. They cost more than other coffee machines (some cost 1000’s of dollars) plus create a range of coffee varieties including cappuccino and lattes. Espresso makers frequently make only a single cup of coffee at a time and need cleaning after each cup. The coffee is stronger than that brewed by other means.

Bona fide coffee connoisseurs frequently like to make use of the espresso coffee maker, above all the super automated versions that do the whole thing from grinding the coffee to pouring it into the mug.

Conventional coffee drinkers who prefer to have a pot of coffee on hand at all times and aren’t interested in lattes or other versions of coffee tend to prefer non-espresso coffee machines. Non-espresso coffee makers work well for people who like to start the coffee brewing and go on with their typical activities while it brews. They purchase coffee already ground and don’t bother with beans or grinding.

For coffee drinkers requiring large amounts of coffee, non-espresso is the means to go. Large percolator type coffee urns can be used to yield more than a hundred cups of coffee at one time.

They also like going back to the coffee pot time after time and refilling their coffee mug over brewing only a mug at a time. Non-espresso type coffee machines are much less expensive than espresso makers.

Choosing a Coffee Brewer Non-Espresso

These coffee makers are available in drip, French press and combination versions. Drip brewers frequently yield 6 to 10 cups of coffee at once. Designed for folks who need a lesser quantity, it really is better to purchase a model that creates 4 cups (or less) at a time. Drip coffee machines are easy on the pocket and easy to use.

There are pod coffee machines available which employ single serving pods to brew coffee. Pod coffee makers can be cheap but the coffee by itself costs more than typical containers of pre-ground coffee.

French Press coffee machines are great for a few mugs of coffee at a time. Combination coffee makers that includes both espresso and non-espresso coffee brewers in one machine are also available. These machines give coffee lovers the best of both worlds.

Picking a Coffee Machine Espresso

Espresso coffee makers appear in semi-automatic, fully automatic and super automatic versions. These machines make less mugs at a time and may need more time and care than a standard drip coffee machine.

The more automated an espresso coffee machine is, the more features it will offer. A few handle everything from crushing the coffee beans to filling the mug with hot coffee and getting rid of the old coffee grounds.

The great number of options the espresso coffee maker offers, the greater the price sticker attached to buy it. These coffee brewers might cost anywhere from hundreds of dollars to thousands of dollars.

The first decision to be made in picking a coffee maker is the need to decide whether an espresso coffee brewer or a non-espresso coffee maker is desired. Coffee preferences, budget and quantity of coffee to be brewed are factors that affect the decision making procedure. As soon as you figure out the type you fancy, then you can start focusing your search even more by contemplating the different styles within the broader categories of espresso and non-espresso models.

This is where things can get entertaining, believe it or not! Supplied with your newly acquired facts you can now target particular brand names of coffee brewers within the type that you desire, for instance drip coffee brewers, manual or automatic, and begin to do some research to find out what consumers are saying about exact brand names. For this purpose, the Internet is a wonderful research device as there are numerous review and testing sites accessible to you using just a straightforward finger tap of a PC mouse button. So pour yourself a cup of tea and let the quest for the best coffee maker commence!

How do you know which of the coffee makers out there is right for you? The best way to figure that out is to be honest about your coffee needs. How many cups of coffee do your drink when you make it? For some, they prefer to drink slowly and savor the taste; it’s more like sipping than drinking. Are you the only person where you live who drinks coffee? Naturally, lots of people eat and drink while they’re driving, is that you too? Do you want a coffee maker that will turn itself on and off at predetermined times?

Those are the kinds of questions you need to consider, and once you know everything then you can begin looking. So, just to get you started, I’ll talk about some of the more popular coffee makers out there.

What do more people buy and apparently love when it comes to coffee makers? You may already know about Cuisinart which is a company that sells different kinds of coffee makers in addition to other appliances. The Cuisinart brand is very widely respected these days.

The Cuisinart DCC-2600 Brew Central 14 Cup Programmable Coffeemaker is one of their flagship coffee makers on the market. If you have an office or large household, that drinks coffee, then something like this which offers fourteen cups may be your ticket to coffee heaven. Have you ever been impatient while waiting for your coffee to brew? Well, this model has a button, and with that button you can pause the brewing. While, granted, you won’t need the pause button every day, but when you want it – it’s there and you’ll appreciate it. It is also handy if you’d like to pour yourself a cup of coffee before the entire carafe is full.

And how about the Cuisinart DTC-975 Programmable Auto Brew 12 Cup Coffeemaker. Another possibility could be that the DTC-975 is completely automatic in operation. It won’t run forever because it’s smart enough to know when to turn itself off. You may want to know that paper filters are needed to brew with this unit.

So this is just one brand that you may have an interest to look more into. For all it does and who makes it, this is an excellent consideration at the price point.

Another highly popular brewer is the Keurig B-70 B70 Platinum Single Cup Home Brewing System. Ok, I’ll tell you upfront that it’s an expensive unit.

You can see this excellent coffee brewing system at Amazon, and it’s about (just under) $170.00 as this is written. But this is extremely popular, and you will be able to expertly brew a single cup of exquisite coffee with it. Keurig realizes that not all cups are the same size, so you can easily choose among five different cup sizes.

Coffee has come a long way over the last few decades. Not all that long ago, maybe 30-40 years, instant coffee was new on the scene and coffee drinkers and everyone who liked coffee thought that was the rage. Now people are ordering special coffee beans online and grinding them at home. People are also buying all kinds of brewers in search of that perfect cup of coffee. The coffee pots are all quite highly ranked but you might also find something better suited to you and your family.
